Job Description:         
Improve the Company's business performance by providing technical expertise and support in installing, testing, tuning, upgrading and maintaining the Company's computing and communications systems to ensure quality IT/IS service. Individual will focus primarily on leading, managing and developing internal competencies in SAP Basis.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Administering the computing and communications environments of the Company by planning, installing, testing, tuning, upgrading, maintaining and securing the Company's computing and communications platforms
  • Ensuring that appropriate capacity and services are in place to meet business operational needs
  • Maintaining the operating environment supporting business critical systems
  • Ensuring that systems are secure and operate smoothly
  • Ensuring that disaster recovery facilities are in place
  • Documenting the architecture and operating processes of the computing and communications environments of the Company
  • Acting as department “lead” in respect of SAP Basis issues, ensuring that co-workers utilize the technology efficiently and are updated on product specifics, updates and improvements
  • Ensuring that systems are designed and installed in a manner consistent with technical strategy and operational and other constraints
  • Managing relationships with vendors and service providers in support of service delivery
  • Reporting upon the performance of the computing and communications environments of the Company
  • Defining appropriate computing and communication solutions to IS/IT delivery challenges
  • Providing specialized expertise, carrying out duties relating to, and offering practical assistance in the use of systems to store and process data in support of the delivery of quality IT/IS services. This may include work at any stage of the systems life cycle
  • Handling exception situations
  • Other duties as required

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong experience and knowledge of:
    • SAP ECC, Netweaver, ABAP, XI, Solution Manager and Business Objects
    • Transport Management
    • Monitoring – batch jobs and general system health
    • Underlying technical components (DB2, AIX, Windows)
    • SAP Security and authorization models and role based security
    • LDAP and Active Directory
    • LAN technologies (active hardware, IP, cabling systems)
    • IP protocol suite (TCP / UDP / ICMP / DHCP / DNS / FTP)
    • Client / Server technologies
    • File & Print Server environments
    • Managing outsourced service partners
  • Ability to analyze complex systems and technology situations and deliver practical solutions
  • High level of interpersonal skills; ability to influence and motivate colleagues
  • Sound administrative skills and an appreciation of financial controls
  • Solid organizational and multitasking skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong team work skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to move equipment weighing up to 25 lbs

Additional Skills (Preferred):

Experience with:

  • Service delivery methodologies
  • Project management methodologies

Required Education or Experience:

  • A minimum of eight years progressive experience within an organization delivering IT/IS service to 500+ users, including at least five years in a systems administration role
  • Substantive experience with technology infrastructure development and management
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required; work experience may be exchanged for degree at 2 years experience for 1 year of undergraduate training
